We are diligent to the health and safety of all of us. As we are in this all together, our school introduced new safety measures to reduce the spread of COVID-19. This page will be updated periodically to keep you informed with changes and new information.

Your health and safety is our top priority.  We do everything so our studio is clean and safe for all of us and our students.

WEARING THE MASK
According to current Alberta Health Services it is required that all dancers, parents and guests wear masks upon entering the studio common space.

DISINFECTION OF OUR SPACE
Our studio including floor, door handles, bathrooms, bars are disinfecting daily by high qualities a hospital grade non toxic products.  We also disinfecting and wipes the studio high touch areas between each class. 

DISTANCING

We are using floor marking system to remind the students to keep safe distance.  Students will not hold the hands, or not work with partners. Students in the same class will be considered a cohort group and contact tracing is possible given the nature of our programs.

DANCE BAG - Each student need to have a bag for personal belongings (clothing, street shoes, water bottle, ballet necessity, personal hair accessories), the student will take all personal belongings in the bag to the dance room (not to leave in change room or lobby).  Students must have hair done before entering the studio.  Please Google “How to make ballet bun”  I have enclosed one video in here have fun to watch  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1zrmfSvcte4 

SELF OWARNESS

Faculty, staff, and students will be asked not to attend if they are sick, even if symptoms resemble a mild cold (fever, cough, shortness of breath, sore throat,runny nose, nasal congestion, headache, or a general feeling of being unwell)

DROPOFF - PICK UP

  • Parents are asked to drop off their dancer at the studio main door.  Certainly for our young students, it is understandable that parents may wish to accompany their dancer.  We ask that only one family member accompany their dancer to respect physical distancing and safety protocols.
PHYSICAL DISTANCING
  • We would like limit physical distancing teacher to parents in the studio.  For that reason if you have any questions to teacher please do not hesitate to contact us at any time by email or by phone 403 226-8874
              

Dress Code

Girls’ hair in all levels of ballet must be properly groomed for ballet class: long hair must be secured in a bun; short hair must be pulled back from the face and off the neck. No jewelry or nail polish may be worn. Students must be dressed in the required class attire.

School Policy

The parents/guardians are responsible to read and comply with this policy and any information related to the school policy including information on bulletin board at the school and on this web-page.

Classes

During one year program there are 34-36 classes and in addition we have dress rehearsals, performances and events. Classes are priced accordingly to our school calendar. See our school calendar for details and events at http://www.ssballet.ca/Calendar There are no refunds for missed classes. However, all our students can make up the missed classes in the same or lower level.

Payment options

We have following payment options to choose from:

Monthly - . Monthly installment payment is a partial payment of the total amount of the tuition, full payment is divided into monthly installments. The first and last month to be paid at the time of registration. The remaining months should be paid by postdated cheques. Postdated cheques are dated the first day of the month or credit card agreement. For credit card payment there is service charge added of up to 2.5 % of any transaction amount.
Account statements: Please note that you will not be sent a monthly statement. Statements are provided upon request and are only sent out to remind you of late fees, costume fees, festival fees, and examination fees. Tax receipts are available in January upon request.

Bi-monthly - the first payment covers first/last month. The remaining bi-monthly payments occurring every two months and shall be paid by postdated cheques or credit card agreement. . For credit card payment there is service charge added of up to 2.5 % of any transaction amount.

Full payment - tuition paid in one full payment.

The School reserves the right to withdraw the installment plan at its sole discretion. Circumstances that could result in this action include, but are not limited to, cheques being returned NSF, per-authorized credit card payments being declined, and late payments. If so, the entire balance owing becomes immediately payable and must be paid before the student can return to class. You agree and you are obligated to pay that balance owing and you authorize Starchevski School of Ballet to charge your credit card and/or cheques on file for the entire tuition, costumes, performance fees and other charges related to fees and owing to Starchevski School of Ballet.

Enrollment is on a first-come, first-served basis, with priority going to returning students. We must have a completed and signed registration form before a student may take classes. Late payments and returned checks are subject to a $45.00 fee. A student can take a trial or placement class for a $25 fee per one class.

Cancellation Policy

Please be aware that when you register for a class, you are purchasing a place in that class for the entirety of the school year, September to June.
In the event of withdrawal:
The cancellation must be submitted in writing with $50.00 administration charge, see below cancellation. We will not accept cancellation over the phone. Cancellation will be processed as of the date written notice is received in our office.

“Monthly or Bi-monthly installment payment” - To cancel installments we require 30 days cancellation notice but you need to cancel before November 1st of the school year and you are still obligated to pay June installment and $50.00 administration charge.
If you want discontinue or cancel classes after November 1st of the school year, you are still responsible for the entire school tuition to the end of the school year. School reserves the right to withdraw the installment plan at its sole discretion and the entire balance owing becomes immediately payable. You agree and you are obligated to pay that balance owing, and you authorize Starchevski School of Ballet to charge your credit card and/or cheques on file for the entire tuition owing, costumes, performance fees and other charges related to fees and owing to Starchevski School of Ballet. The school credit may be given at the discretion of the directors.

“The Year, full payment” is non refundable.

Registration, costume, performance, audition, tickets, solo/duet, private lesson fees are non refundable. Please note that once any payment has been deposited a refund cannot be given.
The school credit may be given at the discretion of the directors.

Photos, video and other media

Starchevski School of Ballet Inc. (SSofB) reserves the right to use its former or current student photos, video or the like for publicity and marketing of the school.
Schedule changes

Class change or cancellation

SSofB reserves the rights to change, postpone, cancel or substitute dates, classes and schedules and add or change or remove faculty members at any time. In unforeseen situations when the classes are postpone students will have credit when the school reopen.

Weather condition: Starchevski School of Ballet reserves the right to cancel any class temporarily or permanently without advance notice due to , emergency, weather conditions, or lack of students. When in doubt please check your email, phone the studio 403 226-8874, facebook page, or web-site. Please be sure that you have provided a valid email address in order to keep up with communication. In this case there will not be refund given for class tuition.

Small Classes: Classes with fewer than 5 students may be combined and/or moved to a different time slot, and/or teacher or school director can reduce class time by 15 minutes in this case there will not be refund given for class tuition.

Postponing classes - The school may postpone classes in unforeseen situations. Postponed classes will be made up for when the school reopens. The missed classes will be arranged in the calendar of our school. Students pay in installments as usual and will have credit for these classes when the school reopens or for the next school year. Tuition and any fees in this case are non-refundable. These unforeseen situations may include, but are not limited to: building closure, damage, Covid-19 or similar situations.

Compliments or Complaints:

Can be directed to the director, Kristof Star. These will then be discussed at an appropriate time. SSofB staff and teachers are not required to discuss any matter with parents directly, as their focus is to educate and have time to prepare/rest between classes. If a parent has an issue that needs to be discussed regarding a certain class they may discuss it with the director, Kristof Star, by calling or email to set up a time for a private meeting or check to see if the director is available at that time.

Attendance

Coming to a class on time is very important for all ages. Walking into a class 5 or 10 minutes late is disruptive and unfair to the class and your child learning process. Please come 5-10 minutes before the class so the students can prepared for class. Absences and tardiness can hold back an entire class. We hope you won’t miss any classes but of course we realize that things can come up. Please don’t bring your child on class if he or she is sick. You can make up missed classes by asking your teacher, all missed classes should be taken within the same month, so there is no carry over to following month, year, or dance session. If you are unable come to the class because your daughter or son is sick or unwell please email school@ssballet.ca or call us at 403 226-8874. If you fail to inform the school we will note this as an unexcused absence. After more than 3 unexcused absences the instructor reserves the right to rearrange the routine, shifting dancers out of a specific dance positions if necessary. The School reserves the rights to suspend any student with more than six unexcused absences within four month. If a student is suspended there will be no refund for the tuition and any other payments or missed classes. Due to the high standards of the ballet classes, regular attendance is mandatory.

If a dancer‘s absences occur at pivotal times, such as close to performance time, the instructor reserve the right to remove the dancer from a particular performance.

Costume Rental

The school provides costumes for our productions if the costume is rented following policy applies:

Pick up: costumes are picked during the classes or in the office the deadline for paying costumes fee will be emailed to the parents.

Return: All costumes to be returned on specific return dates. If the dates for return costumes are not specified costumes must be return on a first Saturday after the show 9.15am to 11.30am. (see our school calendar for holidays and days when the school is closed). The late fee of $35.00 might be added if a costume is not return on time. In the case the costume is not return at all the deposit and costume fee will be charged.

Cleaning: All costumes must be cleaned or dry-cleaned before returning.

Alterations: You must have school permission for any alteration. Any alterations must be done in such a way that the garment can easily be returned to its original condition.

Damage: Costumes must not be exposed to smoke or perfumes. Rips, tears, buttons or closures missing must be identified upon return. Tutus must be hang upside down. If costumes are damaged or not returned fee will be added to your account.

 

Conduct

It is understood that student will reserve his/her time to commit to SSofB classes and performances. Participating in other activities which are in conflict with classes or performances may result in student being dismissed from the school. The school has rights to suspend any student, when the director concludes that a student is disobedient or the behavior of a student has a harmful effect on a person; or a student fails to comply with the school policy. If a student is suspended there will be no refund for the tuition and any other payments.

Injury Waiver

As a responsible organization, we believe it is our duty to inform you, the parents or guardians of the
potential risks involved in the dance. As with any physical activity, there is the real possibility of an injury. We emphasize safety with all of our instructors. Safety is their number one consideration while teaching. However, accidents can still happen. Students may suffer injuries, possibly minor, serious or catastrophic in nature. I understand that the Starchevski School of Ballet and dance instructors cannot be held responsible for unforeseen circumstances or events that may occur during the activity time I agree that the dance instructors will use their best judgment and training in providing a safe experience for all of the participating students. I hereby release the staff to render temporary first aid to my child in the event of any injury or illness,
and if deemed necessary to call medical help, or the calling of an ambulance for said child should the staff deem it to be necessary. The child will be transported at my personal expense. The terms hereof serve as a release and assumption of risk for my heirs, estate, and for all members of my family. In consideration for allowing my child to participate, I hereby assume all the risks associated with the sport, and dance, and agree to hold the Starchevski School of Ballet Inc and their staff harmless from any and all liability, causes of action, debts, claims, or demands of any nature whatsoever which may arise in connection with my child’s participation in any activities related to a dance and any physical activity.

Privacy Acknowledgment

Personal information collected by the SSofB shall be used, retained and disclosed for following purposes: to enable to contact with parents, teachers, schools, physicians, health care providers and to provide you with appropriate program, services and care.
